About Us
Traditional restaurant in Trionfale
One Roman family, three generations, one table.
It all began with four tables
The story of our traditional restaurant in Rome’s Trionfale neighborhood began way back in 1947. Everyone in the neighborhood knew one another by name, and people ate whatever the market had that morning. That’s how the tavern began, without a plan but with a real hunger to start over. Despite all the years gone by, we’re still the trattoria where Romans bring their relatives, and where visitors from around the world sit down and become one of the family.
The first stove
When Rome was getting back on its feet after the war, our family opened a neighbourhood tavern: a few tables, house wine and the dishes made at home. Later, the next generation took over in the kitchen. The recipes stayed the same, but a wood-fired oven, market-fresh artichokes and warm hugs for regulars came along. With the third generation, Giulio took up the mantle, keeping what matters unchanged: a team that is simply a family. More than seventy years on, the Vizzani family still cherishes those same flavours. Returning guests find the same smiles and warm welcome.

Traditional dishes
Being a traditional restaurant in Rome’s Trionfale neighbourhood, for the family, means more than simply serving dishes rooted in Roman tradition. It means preserving a way of sharing a meal built on simplicity, care for people, and continuity from one generation to the next. The story of Taverna Lino is above all the story of a Roman family. What never changes is the relationship with people. Regulars are welcomed like old friends, new customers gradually become part of life at the tavern, and the service retains the direct, spontaneous approach that took shape in its early years.
More than a restaurant, a family
Taverna Lino has never wanted to become a place designed exclusively for people visiting Rome. The Taverna has remained a trattoria where Romans can bring family and friends, and where visitors from far away can sit down and feel welcome. That balance is what still defines the restaurant today. On one side are the neighborhood’s history, the families who dine at the Taverna, and the people who return year after year. On the other are people from all over the world, looking for food that tells the story of Rome without artifice. Coming to enjoy the dishes at our traditional restaurant in Rome’s Trionfale neighborhood means discovering a family story spanning more than seventy years, built day by day around the kitchen and the table.
